Legion: We are Many
A man possessed by evil spirits caught sight of Jesus, prostrated himself, and cried out in a loud voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?” Even evil people know God is more powerful than the vile that is within them. Jesus asked him who he was, and he replied, “Legion is my name. There are many of us.”
The scriptural account is not a fanciful tale, nor is it hyperbole. What the country has seen in the past weeks during the trial of Lindsay Clancy proves that many Legions live side by side with us every day. Moreover, what transpired during the trial shows that many Legions are in plain sight, fighting for the so-called rights of women. Shockingly, some of them are mothers themselves. More shocking is that some of these mothers can sympathize with one like them who would kill their own flesh and blood and the betrayal that comes with it.
The support of mostly liberal women behind a self-accused murderer of her children exposes a level of evil of unthinkable magnitude. By excusing Lindsay Clancy’s murders as some effect of mismanaged mental health, it is a direct attack on motherhood and the sanctity of life itself. Supposedly, all of the jurors except one agreed.
Taking the position that somehow the rationalization of murder becomes a rally cry for women is nothing new. Evil is often disguised under some perverted social justice mantra, tricking women into thinking what they are doing is good for them. We need only to look at the beginning of time, when Satan tempted Eve, whom God told not to eat of the tree of wisdom, lest she die. The serpent lied to her and told her she would not die and would become like God. After she and Adam sinned, their eyes were opened, and they were naked, meaning the truth of their sinful action could not be hidden. Most importantly, death was the consequence.
The same account is happening now. Some women believe the words of evil, stating that what is obviously against nature and basic human decency does not apply if certain circumstances are present. The killing of the most vulnerable at the hands of the person God and nature have given the task to protect has been inverted to systematically attack what is so dear to God—life and motherhood.
This is what is at stake within the events transpiring in Massachusetts. In all honesty, it didn’t just surface now; it has been a constant battle between good and evil for many years, as young women buy into the lie that there is always a good excuse for killing their babies.
“There are many of us” is so true, with the army of evil fighting tooth and nail for the right of a woman to destroy God’s precious gift and telling them they, like Eve, will not die. God and patriarchy are to blame for keeping them from being freely emancipated. The Devil’s message to his followers is so pervasive among some women that they prostrate themselves and do his bidding. Recently, actress Anne Hathaway on national television proudly proclaimed that abortion is another name for mercy. The demonic statement is that killing another human being is not evil and is a disdain for God and self.
Although Hathaway has some national notoriety and her comments were reported, she, like the other brigade of pink supporters of Lindsay Clancy, is one of the unredeemed Eves of the present age. These women, and some men, have willfully joined the Legion of promoting Satan’s disobedience.
For years he has convinced women that life is not the supreme gift; what is, is their apparent freedom from the restraints of goodness and order. After millions of these lives were taken out of completely selfish motives, the red line had been breached. The death of the innocent is no longer abhorrent and sinful if the woman apparently benefits from it.
But that is not enough for Satan. His job now is to convince women that motherhood itself can pose a problem for them. What is new is that the expectation that mothers should defend their children at all costs no longer seems to apply.
The legion supporting Lindsay Clancy is proof positive that his scheme is working. By attacking the very foundation of the sanctity of motherhood as the last defense against evil befalling their children, Satan and his followers will have severely harmed the good. God instills the good in humanity, and such forces thwart his will. No restraints, no guardrails, no moral compass; all is subject to the will of a woman, the recipe and prerequisite for membership in the Legion.
No other explanation fits the lack of reason and moral clarity the Clancy case has brought to light. In real time, we are witnessing the sad story about the Fall of humanity again being relived regrettably over the three innocent victims of their mother’s murderous hands.
