It’s pretty rich that the Governor of the State of Massachusetts, who allows abortion up to the moment of birth, is now very concerned about mothers and newborns. Or at least that is what they want you to believe. Governor Maura Healey recently signed into law a bill that is a hair short of infanticide, claiming it is somehow women’s healthcare.
Now the leftist state of Massachusetts, after the debacle commonly known as the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, has instituted a new program to screen for postpartum depression. The new initiative expands the Welcome Family program, costing taxpayers $ 2 million, with an additional $250K dedicated to a child psychiatry program for mothers. Healey stated, “Everybody in the state, when you have a baby, you’re going to have a home visit within days, weeks and that will be an opportunity for a healthcare provider to make an assessment to see if you need some additional support and resources.”
The new proposal is being rolled out as voluntary now, but everyone knows when the left gets its foot in the door, the voluntary will soon become mandatory. This confidence is based on the fact that the Massachusetts program is duplicative. New mothers already have healthcare, and screening for possible postpartum issues should happen during mother-and-child visits with their pediatrician and other related healthcare professionals.
Inserting the state into the private lives of mothers and newborns is not the job of the state. Government overreach, under the guise of care, is just a way to get its hooks into the private lives of its citizens. When these visiting nurses come to the house, it would not be surprising if they investigate home life and ask invasive questions about other children and the father, whether they drink, or even if they have guns or drugs. Under the smokescreen of healthcare, the government can gather a lot of information and, if it deems it necessary, take steps against the family using the unlimited power of state regulations and law.
Massachusetts is using the same playbook when it stepped into the private lives of school-aged children and their parents. Recall, the state, through the public education system, declared that children with alleged gender dysphoria would be shielded from their parents’ knowledge by the schools. More sickening, a District Court upheld Massachusetts immoral overreach. Massachusetts has already shown how far it will go to invade, pry, and take control of family life.
Contrary to what the casual observer might think, the new program is not dedicated to helping the vulnerable babies. Rather, these innocent children are the problem, and for some, the problem is taken care of at the time of birth when their mothers kill them. The proposed home visits are all about screening the questionable postpartum problem of some mothers. Focusing on the mother’s plight, the baby, like their nine-month abortion law, is seen as the cause of the problem.
What we have learned and what has become painfully clear is that the State of Massachusetts ‘ primary concern is about women and, remotely, about the new life they have carried in their wombs. There is no inconsistency; you cannot kill infants and claim you care for newborns. The contradiction proves the Massachusetts government cares more about the mother than about the innocent child.
The leftist dogma, alive and well in Massachusetts, is the immoral hierarchy where a mother’s concerns, either emotional or otherwise, will always trump the concerns of the baby they conceived. The baby in these equations never equals that of the mother. Rather, the paradigm always defends the life of the mother at all costs, and if the baby poses any problem, it is expendable.
This ideology is firmly planted in the minds of many of the white liberal jurors of Massachusetts. They are willing to forget the lives of three murdered children and absolve the murderous mother so she can receive the healthcare they think she deserves. It is no wonder, then, that some of the women of Massachusetts are all about themselves and their sisters and, if convenient, only the children.
