United Kingdom Bans Joins Other European Countries in Banning Puberty Blockers
Some sanity has returned to parts of Europe, with some countries now banning puberty blockers for children. In the last couple of weeks, the United Kingdom has been the latest to join and is prohibiting its physicians from prescribing drugs to children who claim to have gender dysphoria.
What exactly is gender dysphoria? The Mayo Clinic defines the so-called malady in this way: “A feeling of discomfort or distress that might occur in people whose gender identity differs from their sex assigned at birth.” A feeling of discomfort or distress? The Mayo Clinic is regarded as a legitimate and respected source of medical information. It has no other option than to define the symptoms of dysphoria as a feeling of discomfort or distress. Every adolescent in the history of humanity has experienced strange feelings, discomfort, and distress. It is an experience of the normal development of boys and girls, not aberrant behavior as the LGBTQ+ crowd and Mayo Clinic would like you to think.
By treating adolescents who show signs of feeling discomfort, and distress, the Mayo Clinic diagnoses the problem as a psychological one because there are no real physical symptoms. It advocates a treatment plan that includes “access to the necessary health care and effective treatment.” The effective treatment Mayo recommends for harming an ordinary boy or girl with drugs and surgery to relieve a psychological problem is preposterous on its face. Unlike other psychological drugs, puberty blockers are meant to destroy an average functioning body preceding surgery in many cases. It sounds a lot like abortion that kills a healthy baby and calls it healthcare for women.
The route of treatment in gender clinics not only harms the children but causes more distress in the future than it relieves. The practice is insane, and yet the American medical complex refuses to denounce the treatment, although 19 states have prohibited radical gender transition treatments. We hope more will follow suit, but most of America is in the dark about this issue.
There seems to be a trend in Europe now that the United Kingdom has banned puberty blockers for minors. Finland, Sweden, and Norway have previously taken the same steps. For instance, The National Academy of Medicine in France issued a caution about puberty blockers and surgical disfigurement by concluding, “The Academy draws attention to the fact that hormonal and surgical treatments carry health risks and have permanent effects and that it is not possible to distinguish a durable trans identity from a passing phase of an adolescent’s development.”
Up till now, there hasn’t even been a meaningful discussion in America about the harmful effects of stunting a child’s development on a national level. The question is curious because it is clear that European countries can not be viewed as overly religious or conservative. The opposite is true. Then, how did the Europeans conclude that gender-affirming care is harmful to minors and must be prohibited while America is silent on the topic?
A factor emerges when comparing the European healthcare systems with those of the United States. Each European country has some socialist healthcare, and the country’s governments are responsible for the funding. Although there are aspects of the government funding health care in the United States (Medicare and Medicaid), there is still a good proportion of a capital-based market driving medical decisions. Precisely because there is money to be made, the United States government and medical corporations do not have the appetite to kill the cash cow.
In 2022, Good Moral Compasses published information that major children’s hospitals across America were in the business of gender-affirming care. Later that year, Mary Accipiter reported Dr. Shayne Taylor from Vanderbilt was caught on tape commenting on the business end of gender-affirming care. She bragged about how lucrative the transgender business is for the hospital because surgeries bring in a lot of money. Not only is there a charge for the operation itself, but there are additional charges for the hospital stay, anesthesia, and post-operation visits. Dr. Taylor even uses the term “huge money makers” when describing bottom (genital) surgeries. Healthline lists the cost of these surgeries anywhere from $30,000 to $150,000 apiece. The estimate came from 2022; the price is probably much higher now.
How revolting it is that the medical community in America is willing to ruin children’s lives for a twisted ideology and money. It appears that this is the case, and Dr. Taylor and the rest of the supporting medical professionals are cashing in on gender dysphoria madness.
Not only is the practice immoral by altering these young children for no reason at all, but it is also all the more reprehensible to promote this practice for financial gain. The science is in, and the Europeans have agreed on the harm the so-called gender treatments cause. The American medical complex has sold its soul for profit.
It is long overdue that the United States, on moral grounds alone, ban gender-affirming treatments to minors. The county should be ashamed and will regret in the future how many lives have been damaged because they have gone along with the insanity of gender dysphoria to cash in on spiritually and mentally diminished youths and their parents.
