Progressive Atheist Shocked by Violence of Abortion

It’s not only people of faith who are pro-life. Even a progressive atheist like Terrisa Bukovinac is sickened by the Abortion Holocaust happening in this country every single day.

Bukovinac, a 41-year-old resident of the District of Columbia, is executive director of the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU), a pro-life group she founded in October 2021. The group does sidewalk counseling outside abortion clinics and participated in the 2022 March for Life in D.C. and Chicago. 

The group is not conservative: it is anti-capitalism and pro-feminism, but opposes abortion because it acknowledges that it is wrong, a violation of natural law.

“We as a society use abortion as a catch-all solution,” PAAU’s website states. “Abortion does not disappear societal problems; it disappears human beings.”

PAAU also engages in “pink rose rescues,” where they enter abortion facilities and hand out pink roses to women who are about to kill their babies. Bukovinac and Lauren Handy, 28, PAAU’s director of activism, were planning to do just that at the Washington Surgi-Center on March 25, which was the Feast of the Annunciation.

The women told Good Moral Compasses that they spotted a man parked in front of the facility loading boxes into a medical waste truck and asked if he knew the boxes likely contained dead babies. Shocked, he said no, and allowed them to retrieve one of the boxes after promising him the babies would be given a funeral and proper burial.

Taking the box back to Handy’s apartment, the two women discovered the bodies of 115 unborn children, most first- or second-trimester gestational age when they were killed. However, five of the unborn, including a baby boy they named Christopher X, appeared to be of later gestational age. One baby girl had a cut on the back of her neck where her brain had been suctioned out, most likely the victim of a partial-birth abortion.

Congress passed a ban on partial-birth abortion in 2003, which was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2007 in Gonzalez v. Carhart. This gruesome, barbaric procedure is illegal under federal law.

Handy, a Catholic, arranged for a priest to offer a funeral Mass for the slaughtered babies and most of them were buried. However, the five larger victims were handed over to the D.C. Medical Examiner’s office with a letter requesting a formal investigation.

At a press conference in D.C. on Tuesday, Bukovinac said, “We are demanding that the D.C. police conduct an investigation of the deaths of these babies, including a thorough autopsy.”

That’s unlikely, given the fact that two days after the discovery of the aborted babies, FBI agents were busy arresting Handy and eight other pro-life activists on federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE) charges for an unrelated protest at the same abortion clinic in 2020.

Really? The corrupt FBI has time to investigate and enforce that federal law, but can’t be bothered to enforce the federal ban on late-term abortions?

Bukovinac said she was motivated to join the pro-life side by David Daleiden’s Center for Medical Progress, which videotaped hours of Planned Parenthood executives talking about how the tiny body parts of unborn aborted babies were being sold for “research”. In a shocking August 2021 media advisory, Daleiden stated that the University of Pittsburgh, which runs a fetal tissue bank, ”is now admitting to news media that the aborted babies are still alive at the time their kidneys are cut out for NIH grant money.” This is demonic.

The Democratic Party is in a “toxic relationship” with the abortion butchers, despite the fact that there are 21 million pro-life Democrats who want more restrictions on abortion, Bukovinac added.

“This was one of the most soul-crushing experiences of my life,” she told GMC. “I already knew how violent abortion was, but I’d never seen it before face to face. I felt so incredibly broken. I know I will never ever recover.”
