Frightening Future Doctors

Ever since the Supreme Court struck down Roe vs. Wade, state legislators have frenetically proposed legislation to codify abortion rights in their states. The State of Wisconsin is discussing such a proposal. Thankfully, Wisconsin legislators are attempting to continue to limit the number of abortions performed in the State.

On January 25, 2024, Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly approved a bill that would prohibit abortions after 14 weeks, less than the current 20 weeks, signed into law by former Governor Scott Wallace in 2015.   The current democratic governor, Tony Evers, vowed to veto this bill if it reached his desk. He said, “Wisconsinites should have the freedom to make their own decisions about their reproductive healthcare. And Republican legislators should have nothing to do with it.”

Although there is plenty to chew on politically, the lead is about the portal into the moral stance of future doctors when they expressed their opinions at a hearing preceding the passage of the bill. Maya Seshan, studying at the Medical College of Wisconsin, even though not yet a physician herself, speaking out against the bill, opined, “When you put physicians in a gray area every day, their ability to quickly save the lives of the person they’re working on makes their lives harder.” Her testimony parrots the old, worn-out argument that women will seek out abortions in dangerous back alleys, which allegedly would be the cause of their deaths.

Seshan’s opinion, a predictable response of a person who believes hook, line, and sinker on the left’s fixation with abortion, pales in comparison with her classmate, Madalynn Welch. Welch is also studying to become an OBYGN doctor. Instead of the rhetoric we have become accustomed to in defense of abortion, Welch admitted she advocated infanticide if a hypothetical patient came into her office with such a request.

Welch testified, I think abortions should be unrestrictive. And, I think when somebody finds out in pregnancy or how far along that they are when someone finds out they should be able to get an abortion if they want to. And, for some people is full term

Admitting she is a proponent of infanticide, she continued how emphatic she was about the ability to kill children: If I can’t get abortion training here, if I can’t perform abortions in my career, I will not stay in Wisconsin. And, a lot of my colleagues who are on the same track agree.”

The admission of a young woman who wants to be a doctor, which is commonly known as a profession that is focused on saving lives, has no compunction about taking the life of a fully formed child. Not only is she willing to perform abortions, but she is able and willing to commit infanticide.  She claims her fellow future doctors will do the same. What a scary prospect; the next generation of doctors willfully ignore the hypothetic oath of not harming their patients just as long as they are not fetuses or newborns.

How frightening the thought and presumable the reality that future doctors callously believe abortion and infanticide should be part of their medical practice. These future doctors are so misguided and potentially harmful to society that they must be screened before entering a medical college. The Medical College of Wisconsin seems to have no such procedures in place.

If the colleges refuse to screen rouge applicants, then the work of assuring a defense for babies becomes the work of each of us.  Support and pray for legislation that limits abortions and protects newborn babies. Speak out when you can about against the brutality and murderous practice of killing fully formed human beings.
