It’s been a very long wait, but finally, someone at the heart of a systematic operation to cover up the true origins of Covid-19 has been indicted. His name is Dr. David Morens. Morens, an ex-National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) staff member, served as a senior advisor to the then Director of the NIAID, Dr. Anthony Fauci. Interestingly, both of them abruptly left NIAID in 2022.
The indictment states that, “David M. Morens, 78, of Chester, Maryland, is charged with conspiracy against the United States; destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations; concealment, removal, or mutilation of records; and aiding and abetting.”
Morens is facing up to 5 years in prison for the conspiracy charge, up to 20 years for each count of falsifying records, and up to 3 years for each count related to concealing or destroying records. If convicted on all counts, he will most likely live the rest of his life behind bars.
Lest you begin to feel some sorrow for this elderly man, it is important to understand the depths of the crimes he is being accused of. According to the indictment, the NIAID awarded a grant to an unnamed conspirator (most likely Dr. Peter Daszak of EcoHealth Alliance), who then issued his own grant to the infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, which conducted gain-of-function research on coronaviruses.
The co-conspirator suggested in emails that Morens would receive in-kind gifts for his “behind-the-scenes shenanigans” described as “things of value” like expensive wine delivered to his Maryland home, as well as fancy meals at restaurants in Paris, New York, and Washington D.C.
Morens used a personal Google account (not his official government one) to communicate with Daszak and has been accused of deleting federal records. Emails published by former Chairman Rep. Brad Wenstrup’s House Covid subcommittee revealed that in a Feb. 24, 2021 email, Morens wrote: “[I] learned from our foia [sic] lady here how to make emails disappear after I am FOIA’d [sic] but before the search starts.”
Then on Sept. 9, 2021, Morens indicated that he likes to “always communicate on Gmail [sic] because my NIH email is FOIA’d constantly” and “[I] delete anything I don’t want to see in the New York Times.” If this wasn’t enough, Morens asked, “Do I get a kickback?” regarding the $7.5 million grant he helped secure for EcoHealth Alliance.
Hearing the arrogance in Morens’ tone and understanding the amount of corruption that took place during the pandemic is enough to make your blood boil. The NIAID, through Morens’ subterfuge, allowed EcoHealth Alliance to finance incredibly risky gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, which was notorious for lax safety protocols.
If this was not bad enough, these “public servants” tried to cover their tracks and falsely claim that COVID-19 came from nature and was not manipulated by scientists in a lab. Had they been open about the origins from the beginning, perhaps a better treatment regimen could have been established once the DNA sequence could be truly understood. Instead, these monsters hid information from the public, and millions of people around the world suffered.
After six years most of us have moved on and are not dwelling on the anguish the pandemic brought. But may I remind you that elderly people died alone; relatives were unable to have funerals for their loved ones; other poor souls were permanently disabled from either the virus itself or the vaccine; families were torn apart from the forced isolation; children were masked and lost years of academic and social progress; many people living on the edge fell into deep depression; and small businesses permanently closed. This is just a small list of the terrible toll that Covid-19 has wrought.
We have waited a long time for some accountability. Let’s hope that justice is served.
