The protests on college campuses of those supporting the terrorist Hamas organization seem to be dying down. We are thankful that this unrest is ending, but not without cost. Northwestern and Brown negotiated with the militant group. They promised to fund two visiting Palestinian faculty members for two years, a full-ride scholarship for five Palestinian students with a commitment to fundraise for future Hamas students, and a community house for Muslim students from Middle Eastern and North Africa students. It appears promoting terrorism and vilifying the Jews pays off.
On other college campuses, such as Columbia and UCLA, along with the mayhem, videos are showing some of the protestors and students kneeling and praying to Allah. In a typical fashion, the mainstream media (MSN) was quick to fact-check the video, claiming the students, although appearing to pray, had not converted to Islam. However, Townhall published an article challenging MSN’s spin.
To my knowledge, no one has interviewed those students about the prayer sessions. There seemed to be no questions asked about why they kneeled during Muslim prayer hour or wore the traditional head scarf (keffiyeh). The head scarf was made famous by Yasir Arafat, the head of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), which was notable for its Marxist-Leninist ideology. At the very least, one can conclude that these students were in solidarity with a radical theocracy promoting violence against the infidel, in this case, the Jews, as they shouted, “Allah Akbar,” meaning Allah is the greatest of all gods.
Although we are not entirely sure about the students on American campuses yet, we can be sure that the conversion of students from Christianity to Islam is happening overseas in Germany. The news about the social and religious change in German schools is beginning to reach American readers via multiple news sources.
The explanation given for Christian students converting in Germany is that they are now in the minority in public schools, feeling like outsiders and wanting to fit in. In the largest cities, Berlin and Frankfort, Muslims make up 80% of the student body. The Criminological Research Institute reported that nearly 68% of students believe the rules of the Koran are more important than the laws of Germany. Further, the study found that almost half of the German students think Islamic theocracy is the best form of government.
More than a third of the German students think violence is an appropriate response to someone who insults Allah or the prophet Mohammed. Eighteen percent also think violence is justified to spread and implement Islam.
Similar to school children across the globe, social media plays a vital role in the student’s life and is now used to denounce their Western values and Christian religion. TikTok and Instagram channels feature Islamic pop stars proselytizing Christian students to oppose the Western way of life and infer that only a caliphate is the government they should follow.
Upon reading and hearing about the strides Islam is making with Christian students in Germany, you may shrug your shoulders and think Germany is pretty far from here. Students who once believed in the Trinity and Jesus, who is the Son of God and died to save them, no longer identify as Christians. Is this a cautionary tale or a story being downplayed and ignored?
