The Unbearable Lightness of Naomi Wolf

Dr. Naomi Wolf, CEO of Daily Clout, has lately been popping up on a lot of independent media platforms, ostensibly as a convert to the cause of medical freedom and conservative values. She has also positioned herself as an expert on quite a number of salient issues, including vaccine mandates, government tyranny and “real” journalism.

But even a cursory review of her background and current pronouncements tells quite a different story. In fact, not only has Wolf been wrong on practically all the major issues of our day, she has been wrong even in her own self-selected sphere of influence as a feminist author.

A graduate of both Yale and Oxford, Wolf was a “Democratic Party icon” and former aide to Bill Clinton and Al Gore who “bestrode the highest pinnacles of literature and politics,” according to Business Insider. In 2011, she was arrested wearing an evening gown at an Occupy Wall Street rally she was counseling after attending a gala hosted by the Huffington Post.

But this lifelong Democratic insider ran into problems with her old crowd in 2020 when she had to attach 93 corrections covering nine pages to her 495-page Oxford doctoral thesis championing a “forgotten pioneer of the gay rights movement” five years after it was published. When a British radio host pointed out that there was no evidence for Wolf’s claim that Britain had been executing homosexual teenagers for sodomy as late as the 1850s, she claimed that he was trying to “whitewash LBGTQ+ history.”

She was also called out for incorrectly stating in her 1991 best-seller “The Beauty Myth” that 150,000 women died from anorexia every year. (The real number is about an eighth of that.) This was followed up in 2012 by “The Vagina: A New Biography” that was so ridiculous (such as Wolf’s reference to a “vagina-mind connection … [that is] part of the female soul”) that even full-fledged fellow feminists couldn’t stomach it.

It’s also telling that Wolf, who made a name for herself peddling feminist ideology, has had nothing to say about the top issue facing women today: the intrusion of biological males into women’s sports and other spaces. ChatGPT couldn’t find one instance of this so-called third wave feminist defending actual women from the depredations of the transgender mob.

Challenged on her errors by fellow lefties, Wolf then pivoted and changed her focus to the already reported dangers of the COVID-19 vaccines and what she apparently concluded were the more gullible folks on the right, reinventing herself as an expert on the subject even though the “not a medical doctor, a doctor of poetry” admits she was vaccinated herself.

In a tweet on Nov. 8, 2020 she stated that “If I’d known Biden was open to ‘lockdowns’ as he now states, which is something historically unprecedented in any pandemic, and a terrifying practice, one that won’t ever end because elites love it, I would never have voted for him.”

Even though Biden literally told ABC News in an August 2020 interview discussing the COVID-19 pandemic that if elected, “I would shut it down. I would listen to the scientists.”

Wolf also claims she has “3,250 scientists” working on decoding the Pfizer vax documents, although none of their identities is ever revealed.

In March 2023, the clueless Wolf finally penned an “apology to conservatives,” claiming that she was “duped” by the mainstream media’s now debunked stories about President Donald Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia and the January 6, 2021 “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol.

I am sorry for believing the dominant legacy-media ‘narrative’ pretty completely from the time it was rolled out, without asking questions,” she confessed. “My ‘team’ was taken in by full-spectrum propaganda,” she noted, the result being that “half of the country has been tarred by association and is now in many quarters presumed to consist of chaotic berserkers, anti-democratic rabble, and violent upstarts whose sole goal is the murder of our democracy.”

So now we are supposed to believe that a repentant Naomi Wolf, who has been on the wrong side her entire life, is suddenly not only on the right side, but right about anything else?

Not buying it. For one thing, the disdain she has for the “deplorables” is patently obvious even though she tries hard to hide it. In a recent softball interview she did with Judicial Watch’s Chris Farrell on her latest book, “Facing the Beast,” Wolf stated that the evil she witnessed during the pandemic got her to start believing “in a literal God,” meaning that she didn’t believe in Him before.

In a chapter strangely entitled “Ancient Gods Return,” she talks about “metaphysical evil” being unleashed on the world in 2020, but not in the Christian sense of Satan, the fallen angel described as a serpent in the Book of Genesis. Instead, she envisions Lucifer as a kind of otherworldly “lawyer.”

“We’ve left the door open to ancient forces that have been kind of held at bay for 4,000 years by monotheism under Judaism and then by Jesus… Baal, who absorbed children, and Moloch, [to whom] child sacrifice was given… felt more aligned with what I feel around me,” Wolf said during the interview.

After her supposed conversion, Wolf said she now gets to do “all the really fun things that the rest of America (i.e. the deplorables) get to do,” such as playing pool and drinking whiskey in your garage, listening to country music, and sitting in a recliner. This pandering to the rubes based on her absurdly stereotyped ideas of what conservatives are like is unbearable, especially when she goes on to claim that she’s also recently discovered the 2nd Amendment. You don’t say, Naomi!

To summarize: Naomi Wolf is a self-described pro-gay and pro-abortion (but just in the first trimester!) Democrat who used to work for Bill Clinton and Al Gore. She was caught using wrong statistics in at least two of her own books. She’s been silent on the subject of transgenders, an issue that should be right in her feminist wheelhouse. Although she got vaxxed herself and voted for Joe Biden even after he promised further lockdowns, she claims that was because she was duped by the mass media, which also also misled her about President Trump and January 6. She didn’t believe in God or Satan, but thinks that pagan deities are responsible for the evil currently pervading the world. And she envisions conservatives sitting around in recliners drinking beer and playing pool in their garages.

Even if Wolf is sincere about the dangers of the vaccines, and not controlled opposition as some pundits have accused her of being, she has such a terrible track record that it begs the question:  Why is anybody in “flyover country” listening to her? There are literally hundreds of real conservatives who have never made such serious errors in fact and judgment – or been taken in by “full-spectrum propaganda.”

And more to the point, why are any independent media still giving this woman a platform?

  1. Daily Clout is now up to 94 reports analyzing the Pfizer documents. The analysis is extraordinary. I use it effectively in SW Florida to educate citizens and elected officials and make real change via resolutions and ordinances that protect health freedom.
