Rubio Comes Out Swinging Against the ICC

On Monday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered a strong statement against the International Criminal Court (ICC). He outlined a “whole-of-government” approach to dismantle the ability of this organization to target American servicemen, governmental officials and ultimately U.S. sovereignty. You can watch the announcement here.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) was established twenty-four years ago with the express purpose of prosecuting serious offenses like genocide and war crimes only when a nation’s judicial system was not able to prosecute these offenses on its own. One could imagine a scenario where the ICC might intervene if a civil war in a third-world country broke out. Perhaps during the conflict, governmental institutions were either dismantled or controlled by warring factions.

Unfortunately, this organization, in Rubio’s view, is threatening to overstep its original charter. He claims, “But the truth is, it [the ICC] was something far more radical and extreme. It was a global tribunal staffed by unelected globalist bureaucrats who claim their power is almost unlimited.” Rubio goes on to point out that American citizens who are defending the homeland, like border patrol, ICE officers, military personnel, and DOJ prosecutors, may find themselves in the crosshairs of this global entity without any accountability to the American people.

Rubio later goes on to point out on this 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence that the United States bravely fought a revolution to prevent a foreign power across the Atlantic to try American citizens for fictitious offenses. “Independence is our birthright,” remarked Rubio, “We will never let foreign bureaucrats take that away from us.”

Rubio ends with this warning: “This administration will not sit by as the ICC and its allies seek to threaten our people. If they believe they can deprive us of our sovereignty, we will teach them the full meaning of American resolve.”  Boom!

We commend the Trump administration and Rubio for their bold pushback against the ICC and its foreign bullies. It is about time the United States of America stops kowtowing to global organizations like the United Nations (UN), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).  These entities do not have the best interests of our country at heart. They are captured by America’s adversaries.

Until Trump demanded it, most NATO countries were not paying their fair share for defense, passing the bill on to the American taxpayer. And we all remember how the WHO botched the COVID-19 crisis by protecting China’s interests first and putting the rest of the world at risk. And where was the ICC when Iran executed thousands of its own citizens for protesting the regime? As usual with these global organizations, it is selective outrage, typically targeted against the U.S.

As a sovereign nation, we reserve the right for the border patrol to restrict entry into our country, for ICE agents to deport illegal criminals, for the military to protect our interests worldwide, and for the DOJ to prosecute criminals defrauding our system. As a sovereign nation, we are not bound by international law. No other foreign body or document has the authority to dictate to the United States of America.

On cue, the European Union and its globalist sycophants in the media immediately denounced Rubio’s plans. Of course, they did, as they have been accustomed to U.S. presidents and administrations that go along with this global nonsense, much to the demise of our own citizens.

Those days are officially over. There is a new sheriff in town, and he has a deputy who is unafraid to confront these ghouls. Good for you, Marco Rubio – dismantle the ICC. We have your back.
