The Real October Surprise Appears to be Coming from Voters

Now that most of October has passed, political junkies are waiting with bated breath to see if there will be an October surprise. Up to this point, there have been feeble attempts by the left, with an  Atlantic article debunked by family members accusing Trump of reneging on his promise to pay for a soldier murdered on a military base. In the same article, the “Hitler” reference was pulled out again, claiming Trump idolized German generals.

Yesterday, the Democratic candidate, Harris, took another day off from campaigning and held a press conference outside her vice president’s residence instead. Predictably, her remarks focused on Trump. She said if elected, Trump would be the incarnation of Hitler even though he served as President for four years and the country did not fall into totalitarianism as it had during her tenure in government.

Harris also appeared at a town hall broadcast on CNN yesterday. Anderson Cooper asked Harris why the administration did not do the things she was campaigning on; her response was unintelligible: “Well, there was a lot that was done. But there is more to do, Anderson, and I am pointing out things that need to be done that haven’t been done and that need to be done.”

In the two weeks left before election day, stories and comparisons to the Nazi leader and some other salacious stories will inevitably be reported. It appears outside the leftist elitist bubble; no one is listening anymore because they have heard similar narratives too many times before, and people have already made up their minds.

The Democrats’ strategy of inventing scandal against Trump is failing because, as the adage says, “the boy cried wolf too many times.” Since Trump announced his run for the Presidency in 2015, he has been a public figure, and if something were lurking behind the curtains, it would indeed be revealed by now.  The unpartisan person no longer believes nor cares about the rhetoric used against him, and the Democrats have not understood this fact. Their continuous disregard for voters and arrogant stance that they know better than you will hopefully be their death knell.

Suppose they read the tea leaves more correctly. In that case, the October Surprise is not some dishonest article written using anonymous sources but what happens daily before the general election. The surprise is the amount of early voting happening in many states by registered Republicans. The early voting tactic was among the strongest tools in the Democratic arsenal.

NBC reports over 23.6 million votes have been cast early, and the Democrats, who traditionally dominated this type of voting, are surprised at how many Republicans have utilized this process.  Nevada, a reliable blue state in the past, is now showing Republican early voting is leading the Democrats. Georgia and Arizona, hotly contested in 2020, show the same results. In all other swing states, the Democrats lead the Republicans in early voting but by much lower percentages than in previous elections.

According to CNN, thirty-six states had lower early turnout than early voting from the same time in 2020. The data, coupled with the Republican upturn in early voting, can only mean the Republicans are voting more than the Democrats. Coupled with the loss of some Black and Hispanic votes who were expected to vote Democratic, the October surprise must be pretty sobering.

These are promising signs that a restoration of the Republic is underway. However, there are still two weeks to go and many more ballots to be cast. As the days grow closer to November 5, there will be more invented October surprises, but the real one is something the elitist can’t control: the ground swell of the American voter.
