The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP28, will be held from November 30th until December 12th in Dubai. The stated purpose of this gathering is taken directly from the United Nations Climate Change website and is as follows:
To put it simply, the COP is where the world comes together to agree on ways to address the climate crisis, such as limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius, helping vulnerable communities adapt to the effects of climate change, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
More than 70,000 delegates are expected to attend COP28, including the member states (or Parties) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Business leaders, young people, climate scientists, Indigenous Peoples, journalists, and various other experts and stakeholders are also among the participants.
A quick glance at those attending is enough to know this crowd’s real nature, purpose, and agenda. The business leaders are fascists; the young people are trained Marxists; the climate scientists are charlatans; the indigenous peoples are pagans; the journalists are propagandists; the experts are depopulation advocates; and the stakeholders are useful idiots.

So, imagine faithful Catholics’ surprise when it was announced that the Church’s moral authority would be represented at this conference by none other than the Roman Pontiff. Thankfully and perhaps providentially, Pope Francis, who had planned on attending and playing a huge role in this meeting, will not be there due to an untimely illness. He was to make an important speech and participate in the ecumenical “faith pavilion” hosted by the Muslim Council of Elders.
Lately, even non-Catholics are piling on Francis and his overtly left-leaning causes. Popular philosopher Dr. Jordan Peterson recently tweeted on X, “Turn your attention back to the salvation of souls @pontifex [Pope Francis] and leave the celebration of Baal and Gaia to the pagans.” Peterson is correct. The climate change movement has its roots in the worship of Gaia.
In her GMC article Serving God or Gaia? Virginia Clemm argues that there is a huge difference between Christian stewardship and today’s neo-pagan environmentalism. She writes,
Stewardship is totally different philosophically from the environmentalism currently practiced in the West, which has veered far from the Christian idea of stewardship into a form of nature worship. In this worldview, the Earth Goddess Gaia is seen as the ultimate life-giver, not God. And instead of being put in charge of the natural world, humans are often seen as a form of “cancer” upon it.
It is no secret that environmentalists want to depopulate the Earth, convinced that the current population trajectory is not sustainable. Their advocacy of abortion, contraceptives, vaccines, pandemics, and the homosexual lifestyle are all a means to that end. Their arrogance knows no bounds. These self-proclaimed intellectuals think somehow, they can stop the forces of nature and the ultimate destiny of the world that God has ordained since the beginning of time. Instead of influencing and educating these doomsayers in the faith, Pope Francis is among their ranks, stoking fear. In his Apostolic Exhortation, Laudate Deum Francis (or his ghostwriter) penned,
“Eight years have passed since I published the Encyclical Letter Laudato Si, when I wanted to share with all of you, my brothers and sisters of our suffering planet, my heartfelt concerns about the care of our common home. Yet, with the passage of time, I have realized that our responses have not been adequate, while the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point.”
Yes, Holy Father, we are at the breaking point, but it has more to do with the arrogance of men, senseless wars, the lust for power, a desire to control, rampant greed, and unrepentant sin than carbon emissions. Please, Pope Francis, take off your green robes, be our spiritual father, and lead us to the only thing that really counts – saving our souls.
