High and Mighty Priestess

An ecumenical prayer service is customarily held at the Washington National Cathedral following the inauguration of a new president. Its purpose is to pray for the new administration and foster national unity among various denominations. Unfortunately, this time, the prayer service devolved into a political lecture directed precisely at President Donald J. Trump.

“Bishop” Mariann Budde (an androgynous-looking female priestess and left-wing activist) used her portion of the prayer service to publicly admonish the 47th president. In her monotone and highly affected voice, Budde made the following statement:

“In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian and transgender children in both Democratic, Republican and independent families who fear for their lives.”

First of all, this inappropriate statement from the pulpit is intentionally stoking irrational fears directed primarily at children and their parents and is fundamentally untrue. There has never been a call within the Trump campaign or his present or past administration to eradicate those who suffer from homosexual tendencies. In this regard, Budde’s statement is highly irresponsible.

Trump and his administration have called for the truth to be asserted again, namely that there are only two sexes – male and female. In an executive order issued on inauguration day, Trump declared the following: that sex is a biological reality, that women’s spaces will be protected from men pretending to be women, that no federal funding may be spent on gender ideology, and that no males will be housed in female prisons.  Nowhere in this document is any talk of rounding up and/or doing away with LGBTQ+ children.

Regarding the so-called transgender children, I wish Bishop Budde would express some concern for the poor kids who have been sterilized and mutilated by unethical doctors who prescribed cross-sex hormones or performed invasive surgeries. But of course, not a word about any of that from the merciful bishop. But Budde wasn’t done with the hectoring. She continued with this elitist and somewhat racist plea:

“And the people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings; who labor in our poultry farms and meat-packing plants; who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shift in hospitals—they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes, and are good neighbors.”

Basically, Budde is saying, “Please, Mr. President, don’t take away our indentured servants. We need these uneducated, poor people to do the menial work important people like me are too good to do.” Really, Bishop Budde, your justification for illegal immigration is so that you and your ilk can have a permanent underclass? I hate to break it to you, but anyone who has entered the country illegally has broken a federal statute and is technically a criminal.

Bishop Budde has not heard about Laken Riley, the young Georgia nursing student who was brutally raped and murdered by an illegal alien. Or Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old who was murdered by two illegal aliens in Texas, or the 39-year-old Jewish man who was shot and injured by an illegal Muslim extremist in Chicago.

No mercy was shown to any of these victims, and I doubt that Bishop Budde ever reached out to the grieving families like President Trump has. These are just a few examples of human carnage caused by illegal immigration, but an open border also causes immense amounts of drugs to be smuggled into our country, as well as the trafficking of women and children. Is there any mercy for these victims?

Lastly, Bishop Budde had in her presence a man and his family that has been the target of two credible assassination attempts. It would have been the kind and Christian thing to pray for his safety and protection for the next four years. Undoubtedly, Trump’s family would have found this to be very comforting. But Budde, still caught in her leftist ideology and “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” could not bring herself to do it. She also should have prayed for world peace as the globe seems to be careening toward World War III, but not a word on that.

Trump’s response to her lecture was spot on. He said, “She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way.” No truer words were ever spoken. This was a despicable use of the pulpit and also a big turnoff for any Christians who have strayed from the flock but believe in Trump’s political movement. Many have said it’s people like Bishop Budde and other radical preachers who have made attending church services unbearable. It’s no wonder the pews are empty on Sunday.
