We have successfully made it through over half of June, otherwise known as “Pride Month.” During June, Christians everywhere are hit with a barrage of rainbows at every turn, from murals painted on the roads to flags adorning our village halls to children’s cereal boxes at the grocery store.
At the risk of being overly optimistic, it does seem that this year, some of the ‘pride’ hysteria has died down, especially in light of what happened to Bud Light (who lost 1.4 billion dollars in sales) and Target (who lost 15 million in market value) last year. These two giants felt a huge financial backlash from the majority of normal people who are sick and tired of this artificially hyped celebration of a very small group of people and their constant and pervasive obsession with sexual preferences. Thankfully, these short-sighted companies were a cautionary tale for the rest of corporate America. Let’s hope that it stays this way.
But Christians should not just rely on secular profit-driven companies to set the social agenda and cultural context. We should all proactively reclaim June for the Sacred Heart of Jesus. June has traditionally been set aside to honor the Sacred Heart in recognition of Jesus’ apparition to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1673 when He asked her to promote this devotion. In 1765, the devotion was formally approved. Then, in 1856, Pope Pius IX designated the Friday after Corpus Christi as the feast of the Sacred Heart, and in 1899, Pope Leo XIII consecrated the world to the Sacred Heart in the encyclical Annum Sacrum.
Supreme Court Justice Alito’s wife, Martha-Ann, knows June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart. Recently, Mrs. Alito was secretly recorded by a leftist reporter named Lauren Windsor posing as a Christian conservative. In the conversation, Mrs. Alito said, “You know what I want? I want a Sacred Heart of Jesus flag, because I have to look across the lagoon at the ‘pride’ flag for the next month.”
The good Mrs. Alito was not finished with her distaste for pride flags and remarked, “I made a flag in my head. This is how I satisfy myself. I made a flag. It’s white and has yellow and orange flames around it. And in the middle is the word ‘vergogna.’ ‘Vergogna’ in Italian means shame. Shame, shame, shame on you.”
Windsor hoped she would disgrace Justice Alito by attacking his wife as she posted the audio of this privately recorded conversation to social media, but the reaction was just the opposite as many of the faithful came to Mrs. Alito’s defense. And better yet, in a beautiful twist of fate, everyone knows about the devotion to the Sacred Heart and the Sacred Heart flag. Thank you, Lauren Windsor, for spreading this beautiful and somewhat forgotten Catholic tradition!
But that’s not all. The largest Sacred Heart flag created by TradFlags.com was raised by a company called Bavarian Waste, a fifth-generation family-owned business. You can watch an inspirational video of the flag raising here, where some 600 Catholics were in attendance. When you open up Bavarian Waste’s website you are met with the following: The Sacred Heart of Jesus symbolizes His infinite love and mercy towards humanity. In June, we venerate His Heart, pierced for our transgressions, as a source of boundless compassion for repentant sinners.
What a beautiful testament! What is even more astounding is that this business is not afraid to proclaim the truth of who it is and what it believes—especially when so many companies and individuals have been mercilessly targeted by radical leftist activists. Bavarian Waste is putting its entire business on the line, and this should give you the courage to do the same.
Sacred Heart billboards have also been spotted all over the US in places like Wisconsin, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Michigan, New York, and California. Local Knights of Columbus groups and concerned Catholics have gotten together to resist the radical LGBTQ+ lobby by organizing and raising funds to honor the Sacred Heart. America Needs Fatima has an interesting article on how easy this is to do.
As Christians, we must start taking up space everywhere and letting our presence be felt. This is an effective way to respectfully yet forcefully push back on the lunacy we have been experiencing for the last few years. Might you consider hanging up a Sacred Heart flag at your home/business or perhaps organizing/donating to a Sacred Heart billboard campaign in your area as a witness to the reign of Christ the King? It’s probably too late to make this year’s “Pride Month,” but these are things we should all be thinking about for June of 2025.
At a minimum, start by hanging up a picture of the Sacred Heart in your home. We have had a Sacred Heart home blessing hanging near our front door for years, and it offers all who enter our humble abode and gaze upon His face love, mercy, and grace. Isn’t this just what the world needs right now?
