The Fall of Harvard University

“Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” --Proverbs 16:18

Harvard University, once considered the epitome of higher education in America, is slowly being exposed as a fraud.

It’s not just the forced resignation of former president Claudine Gay, lauded by the university as a “scholar’s scholar” who was later called out for her alleged plagiarism. Or even donor disillusionment following her embarrassing testimony on Capitol Hill when, asked whether calls for the genocide of Jews violated her campus’ anti-harassment policy, she said it depended “on the context.”

It would be easy to chalk up these missteps as the failure of one individual. But the rot at Harvard goes far deeper than that.

The latest scandal is the firing of Dr. Martin Kulldorff, a professor of medicine, who was let go for what he said was “clinging to the truth” regarding the efficacy of Covid vaccines and school lockdowns.

“Harvard’s motto is Veritas, Latin for truth. But as I discovered, truth can get you fired,” the Swedish biostatistician and infectious disease epidemiologist wrote in a recent essay describing his ordeal.

Briefly, Dr. Kulldorff publicly praised Sweden’s age-based approach to the pandemic, which in retrospect turned out to be the correct one. Even though Sweden refused to impose the draconian lockdowns that other countries, including the United States, had resorted to, Sweden’s excess mortality rate from Covid was half that of the U.S.

In other words, Sweden was right.  Our so-called experts in the U.S. were wrong.

Kulldorff co-authored The 2020 Great Barrington Declaration, signed by almost a million fellow doctors and scientists, which stated that “the most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at higher risk. We call this Focused Protection.”.

This was the same approach successfully taken by Sweden.

Kulldorff also opposed vaccine mandates, pointing out that the risks of an adverse reaction were not justified for people, especially those who had previously been infected and children, who had very little risk of dying from Covid.

But truth is no longer tolerated at Harvard. The once preeminent institution has become nothing more than a propaganda machine that cranks out the latest woke garbage and punishes those who resist the hive mentality.

So even though he was right, he had to go. The hive that is now Harvard cannot stand dissenters.

Science cannot survive in a society that does not value truth and strive to discover it,” Kuldorff writes. “The scientific community will gradually lose public support and slowly disintegrate in such a culture. The pursuit of truth requires academic freedom with open, passionate, and civilized scientific discourse, with zero tolerance for slander, bullying or cancellation.

Which is exactly the opposite of what the once mighty Harvard University has become. And no amount of money or past glories can repair its now irreparably damaged reputation.
