GOOD MORAL COMPASSES

Fear is a Powerful Motivator

How do you get someone to do what you want? Instill fear in them. For the past decade, or even more, the American people have been subjected to an unrelenting campaign of fear and terror.  Whenever Marxists have taken over governments and countries, fear is the preferred method of compliance, whether it be with the threat of ruining a person’s life by character assaults, imprisonment, or death.

Fear became real to many when the progressive cultural revolution gained steam and seized media control. Corporations began to cancel people from their livelihoods if they didn’t conform to the radical narrative openly denying natural law.  The fear of losing the ability to support a family was something most Americans could not afford to do, and so the cancel salvo of Marxism proved to be quite successful.

Fear was abundant when the pandemic reached the shores of this country. Governments all across the world were scurrying to address the problem. What ultimately happened was the world elites propagated draconian policies, crushing the rights of citizens under the banner of stemming the surge. Alongside the power grab was the push for mandated vaccines, which were touted as “safe and effective,” neither of which was true. Even the Church put its imprimatur on the policy by guilting its members to take the vaccine as an act of charity for the common good.

On the political front, fear-mongering is a constant refrain. The Democrats ad nauseam smear their opponents as ‘threats to democracy.”  The BLM and Antifa riots in 2020 caused over 2 billion in damage, and the increased rise in violent crimes has scared people that their community could be next.  The erroneous claim of the Democrats that the Republicans have intentions of slashing social security and Medicare has many retirees in angst and afraid for their futures.

Lawfare is another means of instilling fear in the citizenry. The well-known prosecutions against Trump and his allies are used as examples to any person who deigns to object to totalitarian rule. Pro-life supporters are being sent to prison for alleging breaking the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE). The message is unambiguous: any pro-life protestor getting even close to one of these clinics will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The leaked FBI investigation going after traditional Catholics was not a greeting card saying hope all is going well but a tactic to impart a message that law enforcement has ultimate power, even in religious matters.

The ongoing reporting surrounding the assassination attempt against Donald Trump reveals more areas in which the public should be wary. Not only is the investigation thus far less than adequate, but those in charge are also dodging the answers to obvious questions.  After the Butler, PA event, safety concerns are at least on the minds of those contemplating participating in an outdoor rally. The trepidation affects their freedom to assemble and attend the speech of anyone they want.

The Secret Service’s massive failure and the Department’s inability to protect a presidential candidate are already showing signs that a rally of 100,000 in New Jersey will be relegated to a historical fact due to their ineptitude in protecting people from harm. The Secret Service now recommends the Trump campaign hold no more outdoor rallies because they cannot assure his safety even though this is their job! Again, the message is clear: If you go to outdoor rallies, you do it at your peril.

Thank goodness Donald Trump is not willing to have another freedom taken away from him and the American people. He has vowed to continue his practice of outdoor campaigning.

You may love him or hate him, but Trump is a courageous man who does not crumple to fearful threats. He is an example for all of us. He knows that if you step down and do not resist, you are only buying time before you completely capitulate to the bully’s power and hand over all of your rights to save your own skin. And even then, you will never be immune to persecution if evil influences retain power over you.

We shouldn’t forget that by resisting, we are not alone. Others have already been attacked, and their courageous refusal to bow to evil gives us hope. Unfortunately, living a moral life in times like ours will come with challenges. We can only face these challenges with the help of Christ.   No one knew this better than St John Paul II.

Forty-three years ago, St. John Paul II began his papacy with the words, “Be not afraid.” Placing the Pope’s comment into context, one must remember his history. Before ascending to the papacy, John Paul II defied the Nazis by being part of the Polish cultural resistance. Throughout his papacy, he often wrote about the horrors of the totalitarian governments of communism with a first-hand view of the oppression when the Soviet Union occupied his native country. He faced evil head-on, and his courage came from believing in Christ. His words today are as pressing as they were when he first spoke them.

Do not be Afraid!
