With the utter catastrophe unfolding in Los Angeles, isn’t it about time we bring back to positions of authority and responsibility alpha men who actually know how things work? Instead, we are held hostage by these ridiculous virtue-signaling appointments that are touted as being historical in nature but in reality, are simply ineffective, incompetent women with a social justice axe to grind.
In a crisis situation, no one cares if you are the first African American woman to be mayor (Karen Bass), the first Hispanic woman to be the CEO of the Dept. of Water and Power (Janisse Quiñones), or the first LGBTQ+ women to be fire chief (Kristin Crowley). What people care about is that you can actually do your job, like allocating enough of the city tax burden to fund the fire department fully, having the reservoirs filled and pressurized water flowing from the fire hydrants, and having firefighters on your staff that possess both the physical strength and courage to put out fires. All one needs to do is look at the expanse of the devastation to see that this woke trio of touchy-feely feminists has completely failed the citizens of Los Angeles.
Let’s start with Karen Bass, who was on vacation in Ghana when the fires first broke out on January 7th. She left town knowing full well that there was a credible risk of fire. Journalist Michael Shellenberger has reported that the National Weather Service issued a severe fire warning on January 2nd and then held a local briefing in LA on January 3rd to alert officials of the imminent danger.
On January 4th, undeterred, Bass boarded a plane and flew to Ghana. Bass’ first and foremost responsibility was to the citizens of LA – not cosplaying some diversity ambassador in another continent. It is widely known that the Santa Ana winds start to ramp up every year, and if Bass were a good leader, she would have known not to be too far away from home. Many occupations have a busy season, and workers plan time off accordingly. Just as any accountant worth his salt doesn’t go on vacation in April, this lady should have stayed home until the threat was over.
In addition, Bass cut $17.5 million dollars from the LA Fire Department’s budget while simultaneously allocating $1.3 billion to the homeless. The most despicable moment was when she was being questioned by a reporter on her return trip to the United States. He asked if she would like to make a statement to the public. Bass stood in a daze and was completely silent, a cowardly thing to do. A man of integrity would have at least said something to give the citizens hope and take some responsibility for the lives lost and property destroyed. It was at this moment everyone knew Bass did not have the right stuff to handle a job like this. And why should she? In her former life, she was a social worker, a physician’s assistant, and later a Marxist political hack. The only reason she rose to power in the Democrat party was that she was a progressive black woman – hardly the qualifications needed to run a large city. Just ask Lori Lightfoot.
Janisse Quiñones is another abject failure. The Santa Ynez Reservoir, normally containing 117 million gallons of water that might have put a dent in the Pacific Palisades fire before it burned out of control, was completely empty. Then many of the fire hydrants had either low pressure or were totally out of water. Eyewitnesses claimed the dried-out foliage around the power lines had never been thinned out. This lady earns a whopping $750,000 yearly – almost twice as much as her male predecessor.
But her concerns were not preventing fires or having the needed water to put out fires. Regarding her role as CEO of the LA Department of Water and Power, she has been quoted as saying, “It is important to me that everything we do is with an equity lens and social justice and making sure we right the wrongs that we have done in the past from an infrastructure perspective and that we involve the community with that process.” What does this even mean?
We can only hope that if and when this incident is thoroughly investigated, the only “wrongs” identified will be her department’s total lack of preparedness for a predicted risk that happens every winter in California. We have yet to hear any explanation or apology from her.
Now, on to the LGBTQ+ fire chief, Kristin Crowley. At least she did push back against the mayor for cutting her budget. But did she test the hydrants and create fire breaks in the hills surrounding LA? Not a chance! Her top priority for the fire department, which was a three-year strategic plan to recruit more homosexuals and women firefighters, was also skewed, to say the least. In an interview about this plan, Crowley stated, “I’m super inspired. People ask me what number are you looking for? I’m not looking for a number [of DEI hires]. It’s never enough.”
Crowley was good to her word and put in another lesbian, Kristine Larson, as her Equity and Human Resource Bureau head, who claimed in a video that people need someone who looks like them when they call for help. Larson also commented that if a man needed to be rescued from a fire, “He got himself in the wrong place if I have to carry him out of a fire.” I guess no inclusion for any men from this blatant racist and sexist.
These women are emblematic of what is wrong with our society and why we seem to live in third-world conditions. They have risen to positions of great power and responsibility not based on their merit, strategic thinking, logical decision-making, or leadership skills. They were only implemented because they checked an intersectionality box or two. How many qualified men were passed over to feed the progressive leftist beast? We may never know.
With their traditional nurturing and empathetic personalities, women make great nurses, vets, physical therapists, teachers, customer service representatives, real estate agents, office managers, administrative assistants, and, most importantly, mothers. However, women are not interested in or well suited for purely technical professions that require an intimate understanding of how things work—like a fire hydrant, a reservoir, or a city.
I know this for a fact, as my husband is in charge of the cars, the furnace, and all the other mechanicals in our home. This division of labor is played out in most homes in America, so let’s stop pretending that men and women are the same and can do the same kinds of tasks with equal success. We need to bring back the patriarchy and real men to run our cities, states, and country—before it’s too late.
And please pray for the people of California. They need all the help they can get.
